Our Family

Michael and I have been married since December 2007.  We were high school sweethearts and we got married a few years after high school.  We both grew up in Nebraska and we lived there until our big move to Texas.

Our sweet little peanut decided to enter into this world 8 weeks early.  Between his preemie status and his heart condition, he was in the hospital a lot during the first year of his life, but we are through his initial surgeries and he's doing great!

Josiah was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). This is a great video showing what HLHS looks like: http://www.cincinnatichildrens.org/patients/child/encyclopedia/defects/hlhs/

Josiah's heart defect is not something that can ever be fixed.  It is a condition that is palliative, meaning that there is not a cure for his heart, rather, fixes along the way to make him capable of living life.  We are in daily prayer that our little boy would live to see a long and happy life and beat the odds of this disease. We pray for the advances of medicine so there are continued things that can be done to help our sweet boy.

Our sweet little bean arrived about 2 years following his brother. He is heart healthy and is full of spunk. Our boys love each other deeply, but are very different. Our Peanut is quiet, yet social and likes to follow rules for the most part. Our Bean is LOUD and prefers to stick with Mom more than anyone else, but he may warm up to you. He is a bit crazy, but full of cuddles at the same time.
